Modern Family Home
The aim of this project was to update, integrate and where possible renew an existing out-of-date automation system to provide total control of multiple elements of the home.
Please note. Some images have been changed to protect the anonymity of the property owners and their family. Occasionally stock imagery has been used to do this. Full project photos, including before and after photos are always available on request and with the owners permission.
This mid-size family home was undergoing a partial refurbishment and the owner wanted to update their old home automation system without impacting too heavily on the untouched areas of the house.
There was an existing lighting, climate and shading system provided by KNX. We installed an RTI home automation system to act as a stylish front end control system to integrate with the existing KNX system.
In addition to the front end replacement, we distributed audio and video to 16 independent zones using a traditional 4K video and audio matrix across a solid wired and wireless networking backbone.
Home security was offered in the form of brand new 4K Hikvision cameras and integration with an existing Texecom and GJD security system.
We also installed a home cinema which could double up as a family sitting room, with an 80″ Samsung 4K OLED screen for day-to-day viewing and a 110″ electronic cinema screen with 4K JVC projector.
Control was provided solely on iPads, offering the owner the freedom to roam between zones using a mixture of wall-mounted and free-to-roam devices. Each iPad was multizonal so could be used to turn on or turn off any zone from any room.
The project was the perfect blend between brand new technology and older control protocols, bringing a 20-year-old system into the 21st century.
